Why do teenagers need a relationship with God?
The answer to this question is simple- PURPOSE.
Last year, Efthimis (Tim) & Evangelia (Julie) Tsirambidis began teaching our high school Sunday School class for 10th-12th graders. For many years, our Sunday School program completed at the 9th grade level. While we encourage our older students to attend Divine Liturgy each Sunday, we found that they were missing that unity and connection that the classroom and our church community can bring. During a stage in life when students need faith and Christ the most, during their formative years, our class offers students a welcoming, safe space to exchange ideas, promote conversation, and dig deeper into the Orthodox Christian faith. Every week, our students meet after Holy Communion in the classroom.
We are learning more about how to read scriptures in the Bible and further learning in the weekly Gospels using Orthodox resources. Our foundational focus is how to make our faith real and active in our daily lives and to enrich our relationships with ourselves, God, and others. Asking the questions, "Who am I" and "Where do I fit in" are central to our weekly discussions as are donuts and hot chocolate!
Come visit us- ALL youth from 10th-12th grade are welcome to stop in and see what we are all about! We want you!
If you are a college student and would like to be involved in our weekly connection series, please contact Julie Tsirambidis 216-276-0530 mobile/text. We would be happy to have you share your story or just visit our class.
This Holiday season we journeyed through Advent and the Nativity and Epiphany, made Christmas ornaments as a class, and will be serving lunch at St. Herman's House this winter. We will also be hosting a ZOOM call with Minas Tsambounieris, a Cleveland parishioner and current seminarian to answer questions from our students.
Thank you to our entire Sunday School staff for your weekly dedication to teaching the youth of our community! Tim & Julie Tsirambidis
